What are the advantages of dimplex hub with quantum storage heaters?

Can anyone enlighten me please? As the quantums are so programmable, is there any advantage to linking them to the hub? Or is it more of a gimmick? I ask as I currently have 1 quantum that would work with a hub (although is currently not working properly - but hopefully will be at some point…) and one quantum that is too old to work with a hub. Also have 1 panel heater that could work, with the purchase of the module. I see the advantages of linking the panel heater but I’m not sure of the benefits of the quantums being linked. I have another 1 or 2 storage heaters still to upgrade and want to know whether I should be aiming for RF ones or not. Not interested in BG tariff as don’t want to replace the older quantum.
Hope that all makes sense! If anyone has any experience of the hub, can you please share? Thanks.

I have similar, one old box of bricks, 2 quantum and a dimplex panel. I couldn't see the point in the hub either and my installer (who is dimplex registered) said unless I wanted the remote access or to be able to see info without looking on the actual heater display, there wasn't a benefit. I leave the heating on if I'm away anyway so didn't bother.Officially in a clique of idiots1

@RedFraggle thanks. I think I'll look for a used pre-series G one then as I prefer being able to turn down the temp and it staying at that temp next time it clicks on, if that makes sense. I can't seem to alter the room temp so easily with the newer quantum.1

After dialling the new temperature you have to press the control knob to set it.0

Thought I would update: after having so much hassle with the storage heaters, I went ahead and did get a hub that can now operate one quantum and a panel heater. For me it has been worth it as I have had quite a few unexpected nights away from home, so it's been great to have remote access to turn it off or down at least. It's also a lot easier to set the schedules on the app than it is on the heater. Probably haven't saved too much money due to its cost but I have saved some energy at least.1

Thanks for updating - it sounds like this is working really well for you and hopefully over time it will pay for itself in energy saved too!🎉 MORTGAGE FREE (First time!) 30/09/2016 🎉 And now we go again…New mortgage taken 01/09/23 🏡

I got it mainly as I was away over Christmas and not sure when I'd be back. I then had to suffer an unheated room on my return, with no way of heating other than the storage heaters, which weren't charged. Freezing!0

But on quantums you could have used boost at peak rates.Thats one of the advantages of combi storage heaters - like the Quantums and Elnurs - but admittedly you still have the core brick lag problem with both - an oil filled radiator on steriods type delay as they themselves warm up - if their heating the core first.I had one rental flat for work that had older model - that basically had an in air convector style heating coil element - that was instant heat - but at day rates (I didn't really worry much - it was all expensed) - but they did exist.0

The boost on the Elnur's does not heat the bricks at all. It's in effect a panel heater element that comes on if there isn't enough stored in the bricks.
So "an oil filled radiator on steriods type delay as they themselves warm up - if their heating the core first" doesn't apply.
Bricks will heat up once it gets to the programmed E7 period.2 -
