Bit Torrent and Faulting application explorer.exe. Please Help!!

Hi All

I was wondering if anyone would be able to help me?

Today I was in Windows explorer and it shut down unexpectedly and in the management console it shows the following

Faulting application explorer.exe, version 6.0.2900.3156, faulting module unknown, version 0.0.0.0, fault address 0x03a022d4.

My laptop has been running relatively slow over the past couple of weeks with the above error causing concern I have had a look over my PC and on the Exceptions tab of the Windows Firewall screen I can see an entry for 'Bit Torrent'. This is the only thing that means nothing to me and that I cant really find an appropriate answer to on the Internet.

Is anyone able to advise on either of the above?

bit torrent is a file sharing program, I suspect this is the source of the problem, perhaps some sort of virus/malware infection

I have searched for any form of infection with Ad-aware, AVG Anti spyware and also run McAfee Security Center.

any ideas?

hi not sure what (Faulting application explorer.exe, version 6.0.2900.3156, faulting module unknown, version 0.0.0.0, fault address 0x03a022d4.) is but if your pc is running slow make sure you have all the latest updates from microsoft goto...... tools>windows updates.....then get some spyware programs go hear www.filehippo.com get (spybot search & destroy) (ad-aware) (Spyware Terminator) they will kill your spyware but only have one run at a time and reboot after you run each one if you need a antivirus get AVG and a firewall get comodo both free from site i gave you ...plus you will need clean up your pc with ccleaner all from site as well

I already Run Ad-aware and various other spyware and ad-ware programs always only one at a time and my laptop is completely up to date with all Microsoft security updates etc. but i am still experiencing these problems.

any other advice?

Is it only you who uses the lappy ?
Have you used a torrent site ..For downloading music or movies usually .
If you have and it is installed on your machine .It may be starting up with windows .This won't be seen as a virus or malware ,but will slow down your internet experience .
Check in your programs what you have ...List any you don't know about on here ..someone will tell you whether it's a keeper or something to delete .
If you wish to keep the torrent engine on your machine ..Just un-tick the box that says ...Start with Windows ..In whatever torrent program you have .
Then it will only be on when you want it to be .

It is myself and my partner that use the PC but neither of us have used file sharing programs/sites that we know of.

The only program that i have got installed that may cause concern is 4oD (channel 4's online TV Service)

The only other thing I am not sure what it is, is ARTEuro.

Any Ideas?

I got rid of 4oD as it is a resource hog.

Suggest you look in Window Task Manager for Applications and Processes. You may be able to identify the rogue program.

Cheers, I'll take you tip and ditch 4oD, ive heard nothing but bad things about it.

However, I have already got system Mechanic 6 but that doesn't seem to find anything either.

I'm loosing all hope.

Is the machine a Dell?

It looks like ARTEuro is some sort of media player that comes bundled with Dell machines.

If you don't use it it's probably best to ditch it
