  • Look at the rates as well - Kwh + Standing Charge.  Don't just rely on what the comparison site says your annual / monthly amount may be in £.

RE: £200 exit fee - is this if you only change supplier?  Some deals allow you to change product (but stay with same supplier) without having a penalty.

EON Next offer a 2 year fix (V19) - which will become effective for me tomorrow - which would allow me to change PRODUCTS without a penalty.  If another 2 year fix comes that is cheaper, I can change. If another supplier offers a better deal, I can change to EON Flex (standard rate), then change to the new supplier with no fee, as FLEX plan has no fees.

For my usage (2800 kwh ELEC and 14,000 kwh GAS) I estimate EON is £35 a year more than the OFTM 2 year fix, which I am OK with paying.

I am already on British gas and if I fixed today at such a rate, if the rates drop next year i can change tariff as long as i am still with British Gas, No exit fees mentioned which i would never sign up for

Are you 100% sure about that? Surely EOn Next wouldn't allow for such an easy loophole to be exploited, would they?

Re your second paragraph, this has been discussed before. You may well find that if you leave your fix for another E.On Next tariff without exit fees and then try to jump ship from there to avoid the fees, that there is software running in the background which will pick this up and impose the fees. I don't think we ever found anyone who had tried this, but it would seem most unlikely that E.On Next haven't made such provision, as it would be an obvious loophole and open to abuse in the way you suggest.

Electricity SC and unit rate cheaper in my region with British Gas

Most other suppliers have cheaper electricity unit rate than both Octopus and British Gas
