What does this will mean?

I give the remainder of my estate whatever description and wherever situate to my trustees [the executors] upon trust for my wife xxxx for her life and subject to that for such of my children [the executors]
4 children are named as trustees and are the executors of the will. Wording above. The remainder of the estate is some money (approx 40k). Does the wife hold in trust for the children (executors/trustees) to eventually inherit or do the trustees hold in trust for themselves.
Any help appreciated. Will check with a solicitor too but extra thoughts very much welcome.

Sounds to me that it is given to the children who then are the trustees for property (I suspect) which then would go to the children (equally I presume) when the wife dies.
If it is only cash that is subject to the trust then I suspect it's an attempt to keep this money separate from the wife's assets for the purposes of financial consideration by the local council should the wife need care provided by the council. What puzzles me is what is to keep the wife from spending the money on something - a couple of cruises or paying for toy boys perhaps?
