hi all dont know if this has been done in here before
since the clocks went foward my ihd resets at midnight... 1am comes resets again, so the electric i use from 12 midnight goes on the previous day and 1am its back to zero
also at the sametime that started ive noticed on my app for previous day readings is black (awaiting data i take it) it always shows midnight-1am 0.03kw, 0.09kw rest of the day is blank
now during the night on agile had a price drop and i used a fair bit in my book between midnight and 1am then another fair bit till 4am when it was still in the neg price, and being on agile i am now watching my hours but if my meter is a hour out this could be costly
so ive messaged octopus told them what ive put in here and see what they say
oh and the octopus mini dosnt work, got a white light and no update, 12hrs now

I think you've summed it up in the title IHD MADNESS.

    They aren't that reliable.

Hopefully your meter and app are correct.

    Clocks went forward in spring.

    They go back in October
  • White means up and running.  You should have a 'live' tab on the Octopus app to show current usage.

Most conventional meters work in GMT internally - and many digital only switched to DST for human time display purposes.

Early smart meters did so too - mines does  - so off peak times and meter alcs heating circuits switch gmt regardless - so 1-4pm  winter 2-5 as displayed on ihd summer etc..

As such the true daily registers are only complete at 1am in summer - but iirc the ihd shifts the day's use an hour early when scrolling through by day etc - then corrects itself at 1am.

But other modern smart meters may use the time switch options to switch GMT vs DST more fully.

Agile is billed using individual 1/2 hr data - daily registers aren't used at all.

And my expectation would be they are time stamped GMT - but I am sure an agile user will be along to shoot me down if wrong.

Iirc some of the apps/ sites display half hourly data differently - like using start or end of slot times - but not sure about gmt - I got very different opinions on that from different posts here.  Not sure which view won out in end.  And I don't report 1/2 hourly readings anyway.

What's the reason for not doing so?
    I'm not being lazy ...
    I'm just in energy-saving mode.

My supplier bills me monthly based on differences in my off peak and peak registers - the only time it uses intermediate measurements - is the daily readings at cap changes.

Not even allowed to take part in load shifting savings.

As per DAPF regulations - there is no legal requirement to provide half hourly reading - suppliers need you to opt in to it - so never have.

And you can legally even actually opt out of daily - so only supply suppliers with data on a monthly frequency basis from your smart meter.

  • agile IS a hour half tariff, how else are you going to be billed
