I've had my PIV in loft for a year now. I'm told I have good airflow but my house stinks of loft and I'm so fed up with it. Should i have a vent put in at each end. The loft does have a lot of stuff that needs to be cleared out but even so it shouldn't smell so much. I really can't bear it. I'm lighting melts all the time to try and mast the smell. HELP as it's getting me down. A PIV should purify air not make its smell. A year is long enough and i feel like asking my son to just turn it off but I bought it to help with condensation in the winter months.

If it still smells after a year, you've probably not got enough fresh air entering your loft. You can add vents etc in the loft to increase airflow if needed.0

Before looking to install vents, did you check if the underside of the roof overlap for any blockage?

What is the smell? Is is mould? Is is dead pigeon? Is it rotting wood? It should be an easy fix to trace. Trace the smell and solve the cause of the smell. The cause might be ventilation or to remove whatever is causing the smell. The comments I post are my personal opinion. While I try to check everything is correct before posting, I can and do make mistakes, so always try to check official information sources before relying on my posts.0
