P11D

Hi my employer submitted incorrectly on my P11D that I had a benefit in kind of fuel during 23/24 tax year of over £8000... which i didn't my tax code was 1213L that year... They have now taken it off and said I will be contacted with the amount that I overpayed - does anyone have any idea what sort of amount I'll be payed back?
Thanks in advance

Your tax code is irrelevant in this context.  It's just a provisional attempt to collect the correct tax.  But things often need adjusting after the end of the tax year.

Could you clarify what the consequences of this have been?

Who has "taken it off".  What have they taken off (the fuel benefit off your P11D?)

How have you overpaid?  Is this tax code related?
  • So during this tax year on my P11D I had a benefit in kind added off 8000 for private fuel which was incorrect so this was obviously a large chuck of my personal allowance meaning I paid more tax. This has now been rectified by the HMRC and so my enquiry was how could I work out what if anything (although they said on the phone I did overpay) the refund might be? If that makes sense - sorry I am useless at this lol

have you been a basic rate taxpayer for whole year or a higher rate for the whole year
was that BIK the only amount that pushed you into HR tax, if so by how much did you go into HR?

the size of you refund depends on simple maths: what tax rate was used, for how long, and on how much ?

What is your new tax code and is this to be used on a cumulative or non cumulative basis?  Non cumulative often has an X after the tax code, for example 800L or 800L X.

Details from your last payslip before the new code is used would also help, along with expected taxable pay on your next payslip.
