So impressed with your creativity!Life is mainly froth and bubble: two things stand like stone. Kindness in another’s trouble, courage in your own.2

Delicious gf fruit toast for breakfast this morning.
On Sunday I turned the contents of 2 extra large pumpkins into puree, and used some to make muffins. This evening I've turned more into a pumpkin cake - basically carrot cake alike - and have promised pumpkin soup to my MIL for lunch later in the week. There's a litre and a half of puree in the freezer for later use.
This evening we made a favourite baked risotto with butternut squash (roasted earlier to preserve it for later) and chorizo (admittedly bought) with onion and tomato additionally from Ol*o.
The chicken pie I made and froze at the weekend is now defrosting for tea tomorrow. The day after we'll need to make a casserole of some sort using the casserole veg we have from bags at the weekend.
Last night there were lots of celery sticks on a use by date so I took them into work today and distributed them. Managed to distribute quite a lot of bread, some carrots, some chicory and 2 large iced cakes from last night's collection. We've still got some bread but I managed to squeeze it into the freezer so that'll help with the soup.

Amused to hear that the children had blinis for lunch.
Tomorrow needs to be a mushroom based dinner as we have so many sliced ones rescued from unwanted stirfry packs.1 -
i like mushroom stroganoff (sautee mushrooms in a bit of butter with minced garlic and a pinch of tarragon, then stir in some sour cream before serving over noodles).
I made a fairly tasty tuna pot pie for dinner tonight. Used 2 large tins of tuna and have filling for another pie later in the week. I used a store-bought crust this time; next time I will make my first home-made pie crust.4 -
collected olio from iceland last night. my keeps were 4 bags of sugar that had split open so that was good!!

Amazingly, October is over for this year. I'd love to hear your synopsis of how it went @Viking_mfw. How close to free did it go? What helped most (Ol1o?) and how much of it was seasonal (we get given lots of apples which are of course plentiful around October, but in say February that would be different).I think a bit of sunshine is good for frugal living. (Cranky40)
The sun's been out and I think I’m solar powered (Onebrokelady)
