Good morning, it's raining here, cold as well.
New fire now installed , it looks lovely, worth every penny. There were a few minor problems and it took a bit longer than anticipated, but it's done.
TA, sorry to hear about your SIL, and your friends Dh, how sad. Understandably it brings back unhappy memories for you.
Like you, I have no 'best' trousers, and am going to look for some. I live in jeans, joggers, and jumpers as well now it's turning cold.
Remmie, I'm another one who can't iron sitting down - I've tried and it feels really odd and uncomfortable.
Mehefin, you made me laugh with your story of horse behaviour!
Great to see you back Nan.
There were other things I was going to say with reference to various posts yesterday, but sorry, I can't remember everything.
Not much going on today, except I must go to the shops.
Hope the bairn is all right Dp1, also thoughts to others who are not well.
Take care folks.

Morning allGlad to hear your DD and DGD are home at last and fingers crossed things settle down for them and they can get back to normality soon.{{hugs}} to you TA, yes, bringing it all back must be very upsetting for you xUsual housework this morning. I've decided that to keep me amused this winter I will do my family tree. I've found out that you can use family tree websites at our local libraries so I've signed up for a free trial here at home to start me off and then I'll carry on looking while using the library resources. So far it's not as easy as I thought but I'm going to carry on to see how far I get. It's looking really wet out there this morning and it looks like it's in for the day on and off.Have a good day everyone. Hugs and spoons for the poorlies x11

Morning folks and thanks SCARLET. Another gloomy start here but, so far, we are escaping any heavy rain and getting away with mostly drizzly stuff - there I've gone and said it now so no doubt we will get a deluge today!
A day of same old same old for me, with not much worth mentioning. Who knows, something exciting might happen! (But probably won't!)
Have a good day folks if you can and ((HUGS)) for our poorlies, poorly loved ones or just sad. Dp1 good news at last. Take care all, stay safe xx"If you dream alone it will remain just a dream. But if we all dream together it will become reality"13 -
Morning all. Today is already grey and unpromising, time to bring out more jumpers. Yesterday was very cold and bright, it was deceptive. I only went out briefly so was fairly lazy. Wednesday is Slow Horses day, there's just one more episode left now.My gardener is coming this morning to tidy things up. She's been away with family a lot recently so I'm glad she's back. Lots of plants need foliage cleared away. No other plans, something will drop out of the ether no doubt.Happy new fire @Scarlet, at least it's all done now.Hugs to @TA. And I hope that @ DP1's little one is safely back home.Have a good day folks.13

Thank you for the start Scarlet
DP1 good news
TA sorry to hear about your SIL and your friends husband.
Nan and Taff good to see you both
Walk and talk this morning, weather doesn't look too bad at the moment but forecast isn't good.
Gardener has already cancelled
Take careIf you walk at night no-one will see you cry.14 -
Morning, dark and damp here.
Not much happening today apart from dog walking in between the rain forecast. Am I the only one whose dog hates the rain? He's a big loveable funny boy, but doesn't like getting wet. We adopted him just over a year ago so don't know his all his history, only that he has kept in a shed in the garden, so that probably has something to do with it.
Dont know what's for dinner tonight, plenty in so I'll let Dh choose. Yesterday's stew was very tasty. I did it in the slow cooker, some left for lunch today, but Dh won't want any as he doesn't do leftovers. His loss, it's tastier the next day.
Dp1, glad little is home at last. Hope all goes well for her going forward.
TA, hugs for you.
Love to all x14 -
Morning all
Very cold and wet here this morning it’s been raining most of the night and more due later, I am off to get Rob today and take him to work we have to leave earlier than usual as his birth mother is coming to see him, she had the same condition as him but is not deaf, she comes to see him every year around his birthday.
I need to go shopping later as we don’t have much in so I will do that on the way home so i am not sure what we will have for dinner yet but something quick I think.
TA hugs to you it must bring back painful memories xxx
Have good days all and take care xx12 -
Morning! Early doors today, the screed is coming, so let the tea making and bacon sarnie making duties commence. Nan, my sister could probably equal your dad for stubborness. I had a phone call last night from my fathers best friend so we had a mutual worry session about her living in a house with no heating except for the coal fire and having to fetch it from steep steps and a deteriorating path twice a day in all weathers. But she won't listen...I'm fetching a chiminea from freecyle today, then we're off to Ohs parents for tea tonight, so no cooking today. Catch up session with friends was good last night, food was good too and our server, Emelia, was great, funny, cheerful and very attentive. I think I'll send them an e-mail about her later on to say how good she was.snoozer, nice to see you in between all your busy-ness, another one who needs a bit of slowing down
dp1, great that she's been discharged, hopefully she'll be ok for a while! I bet your dd is cream crackered. Scarlet, glad your fire was installed successfully, I hope you have many happy nights enjoying the flames and warmth
Chris, I signed up to ancestry for a year, it was I supose worht it because it was so easy and a good introduction. But free is way better so next years jobs...TA, you got to make excitement happen! Mystery magical bus or train ride?
Gers, glad you're view will be better , garden wise, sounds like your view is quite spectacular anyway! I have slow horses earmarked to watch. SO, sounds like your weather is going down the pan then...I'm a member of a gardening thing on FB and the talk is all about what are the best waterproof clothes now so it must be that time of year again...cuddle up with a blanket and good film
remmie, that's a bit mad, how does he not know it's always better the next day?!! Ruby, hope you have a good day today and Happy almmost birthday to rob
Izzy, well done on getting shot of it at last and great that it's done triple purpose now, it's been good for, for the charity and for the next person to have it
Glad you're over your cold a bit, sounded horrenous! Rosy, good news about your DH then, fngers crossed he can resist! mehefin, take it easy and don't try doing everything at once! Right, time for more tea making skillz...have a good day all, or at least a tolerable one!

Good morning from Mehefinland
Before I forget ( memory like a sieve at the moment) Remmie re the water hating dog. I have been fortunate to have had 3 labradors in my life and they have all had very different characteristics. No 1 loved water and would be found sploshing about in the horses water tank ( he also loved rolling in fox poo but that's another matter !) or any convenient puddle. No 2 was a wuss. If there was a puddle in front of him, he would pick his way around the edge so as not to get his paws wet. No 3 was a rescue and our first !!!!!!, so like you we didn't know her history. She was ok with water as a rule, but hated it when she was elderly if we put a coat on her. If she could have talked I can just imagine what snarky comments she would have been making. They were all special to us and are sorely missed even now all those years later.
Yesterday was spent on sadmin. I was conscious that I had to finalise the payment for Dawn's service with the FD, but had been waiting for an amended invoice. ( we did it through the Co-op and as a member were due a small discount). I had tried contacting them in the morning but they were busy with another poor soul so I decided to ring back in the afternoon. In the meantime, the days post brought a 'reminder' from central office that the invoice was overdue. Annoyed rather than upset as a result as I knew there was an issue and I had not received an invoice. So eventually got hold of the FD and it turns out there was an issue with the loyalty card. This card was still in use ok at the local store so struggling to understand why. FD suggested I speak to the membership team as she couldn't action it from her. end. 20+minutes later team confirmed the card was ok and active and suggested talking to Funeral team! Another 20+ minutes on hold and eventually got some person who was about as much use as a chocolate teapot. Their press 1 for this etc just did not have anything which could be treated as 'other'. It all related to funeral plans or immanent funerals.
So back to FD with update. She has taken advice in the meantime, and we are going to try cancelling the invoice and reinstating on Friday. It's only £50 but better in my pocket than theirs! I willlet you know how it goes. Rant over lol.
The space bar on this laptop isplaying up so apologies if it looksgarbled on occasions. I am trying to catch them all! Wasn't that a Pokemon thing?
Car booked in for MOT at the end of October. They are so busy it's silly.
Hugs and spoons as always

Morning all, feel tired this morning, disturbed by the rain. Remmie our dog doesn't like going out in the rain. This morning she refused to go down the road, so I ended up turning round and just had a quick walk opposite the house :)She's a funny old thing.Dp1- am so glad to hear LittleOne is home now.TA sorry you've had sad news.Chrisca - I've been doing family history for years (& spent too much on the ancestry site !) One of my cousins does it too, and we reconnected with a 2nd cousin a few years ago.We have a get together every so often to compare notes
but it is a good winter hobby.
We had a lovely meal out for DGD birthday last night, the Italian place was really busy. Nice to have a night off cooking too. This morning DH has taken an apple instead of a choc bar with his packed lunch! Small steps... I'm going to have a rethink about our meals. Been looking at sugar free jam etc. but everything like that seems so dear- still you cant put a price on good health.Take care all.:heartsmil 'A woman is like a teabag: You never know her strength until you drop her in hot water'.
