ANY ADVICE WOULD BE HELPFUL

Hi there, so over 8 years ago now I split with my ex, I rented the house out for a short period of time as we couldn’t sell due to negative equity plus he didn’t want to stay in the house. I ended up moving back into the house after I paid him some money and got him to sign a letter I typed up saying he wound hand the house over to me and come off the deeds. Recently I’ve applied for a repayment mortgage and was successful however he will not sign the transfer form. He obviously wants money now which I did offer but he’s sitting on the fence messing me about. I did go to a solicitor who wrote to him (can only contact via fb messenger as he lives abroad) but he ignored all the letters. I’ve been told to apply for a court order as the letter he signed is legally binding, any advice on how I can deal with this? Thanks

    Was it witnessed by anybody?
    Unfortunately if you have a mortgage you can't just take (or add) somebody to the deeds without the permission of the lender.
    Who told you to go to court? A friend down the pub or a trained solicitor?

    You want advice - go and see a solicitor.

    Taking it to court would be a last resort because it will be expensive. Compromise is the way to go - you may find it cheaper and easier to simply offer him more money, even if that feels unfair. 
    How much have you offered him, and what do you mean by sitting on the fence and messing you around?
