Unfortunately my mums investment in Astute has been lost now it has ceased trading however I was contacted by Regulus Capital Consulting claiming that they had been assigned to recover investments through Investec obviously for a "fee" has anyone else been contacted by these people as it all sounds like a scam to me.

Any reputable wind-down of the company by official administrators will not require any up-front fee. It is also highly unlikely to result in any money being repaid to shareholders.

If that is what they have told your mum, then it is a scam (emphasis on if that is what she was told - it may even be a clone scam). There is no requirement for an individual to pay an ambulance chaser to access what will be left of her money. The administrators will do that as a matter of course.

Is this the "Regulus Capital Consulting" who you are asking about?

Yes, Astute Capital a well-planned out scam by their British Directors. My wife and I were scammed out of £20K. I note that Tim Mycock, Astute Director, has now got a job with The Hampshire Trust Bank. Surely there must be a law against these guys continuing to work in the financial sector.1

Followed a few months later by Regulus Capital shutting down, and another new company looking for a fee to recover those losses.Aspinan said:Unfortunately my mums investment in Astute has been lost now it has ceased trading however I was contacted by Regulus Capital Consulting claiming that they had been assigned to recover investments through Investec obviously for a "fee" has anyone else been contacted by these people as it all sounds like a scam to me.1 -
