Energy supplier

I have just been informed by my energy supplier (ovo) that I have to buy a replacement home display unit from a local hardware shop as the one I have is discontinued and they won't supply me with another one surely this is not right 
The one I have is faulty

    They wash their hands of them after a year, sooner if they can get away with it. Look into something like the Bright or Hugo apps for smart phones, do a similar job and free.

    You don't HAVE to buy one - it's not an essential piece of equipment.
    As others have said, if you find it useful there are free alternatives out there that will provide simialr functionality.

    As others have said, if you find it useful there are free alternatives out there that will provide simialr functionality. 
    Unless they use it for live use or cost totals they need immediately then those apps are not useful.
