Credit Card not taking full payment

Hi. I think you might be clear on this but just in case you are not: the monthly payment taken on 16th September would have been based on the statement produced on or around 23rd August. So if you have a statement dated 23rd September, the payment from that statement will be taken around 16th October. So sometimes as you have worked out, your payment can be almost 2 months after a transaction.Which raises another point. I don't know your card limit nor what you might spend in a month, but to ensure you don't go over your card limit spend less than half your card limit in a given month. Then you can continue spending whilst your statement is produced and the money taken from your current account some days later. Alternatively know your current balance and how close it is to your card limit. You don't say what card you have but for certain customers of the John Lewis card, the direct debit is taken some days before the payment due date shown on the statement. The card provider's (Newday) reasoning is that if the automated direct debit failed, then you would have time to at least make the minimum payment in some other way.Hope that helps and I am not teaching you to suck eggs.0
