Found some travellers cheques - can I take them to a bank ? Any recent experiences?

My father died just over a year ago and we have processed the IHT, got probate and distributed will payments etc. So far so good, no complications
Whilst continuing my clearing of the house today I came across just under £500 of travellers cheques - mostly in sterling but some in Canadian dollars.
I rang up the American Express helpline and was advised that I could pay them into my bank account, I guess if I go with probate, death certificate, will, any other documents I can find, but having done a bit of googling there is not much available saying that banks will accept them.
Has anyone had any recent experience of cashing inherited travellers cheques?

Assuming these are Amex cheques(?), have you looked at their own guidance on inherited travellers cheques: https://www.americanexpress.com/uk/travel/travellers-cheques/magentacat said:My father died just over a year ago and we have processed the IHT, got probate and distributed will payments etc. So far so good, no complications

(need to scroll down and click on the relevant button, which may not be immediately obvious when you first open the link.)Googling on your question might have been both quicker and easier, if you're only after simple facts rather than opinions!0 -
I've been through this. Call AmEx on 0800 587 6023 and they will give you a claim reference number and send you a secure email requesting all the information they need. I had to write 'void' on the cheques, cut them in half, and send them a photo together with proof of my ID, the death certificate (we didn't have probate at this stage), and the bank details for the account I wanted the proceeds paid into. Sounds simple but took four months to receive payment. Good luck!1
