Will a minus figure on self employed work be taken off my paye figure for UC?
textbook
I work both PAYE and self employed work. If on my universal credit inputting of data the figure after expenses is minus e.g. minus £500 will that be taken off my paye money ? If it is, might give me a total figure which makes me eligible for some universal credit money.

I may be wrong but no. Your PAYE wage will be directly feed to UC and used to calculate the reduction (55p per pound)

But as I say I may be wrong.@peteuk you are correct. For the purposes of calculating the amount of UC, the self-employment and the PAYE employment are treated completely separately, so any S/E losses are only offset against S/E earnings, not PAYE earnings.Example:If you have £1000 PAYE earnings and a £500 loss from self-employment, your earnings for UC will be your £1000 PAYE earnings plus your £0 self-employed earnings (as there are no S/E earnings that AP due to the declared loss). Total earnings for UC £1000I am a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the Benefits & tax credits, Heat pumps and Green & Ethical MoneySaving forums.
