Bank Transfer fee

Edit - yes this is what they charge for handling it.
(how do you close a thread?)
My conveyancer has quoted £45 + vat for 'Bank transfer fee'. This seems to be them charging me, not the bank charging them.
Is it normal?

If the bank has charged them it seems they are passing it on to you1

Its me buying, them paying seller.
I'd be happy to pay by cheque, but there'd be no paper trail.0 -
Is it the CHAPS fee (and maybe a small markup)?1
-
Their bank charges £15 for CHAPS, FASTER payment free.
I'm surprised it's not included in their fee.0 -
In a previous life, I used to collect cheques from various businesses and deposit them in an account on behalf of another company. Amounts varied from a few thousand up to a couple of million. Would often get asked about the source of these funds and what they were for.35har1old said:

Can avoid questions being asked in regards where the money came from
Any language construct that forces such insanity in this case should be abandoned without regrets. –

Treasure the moments that you have. Savour them for as long as you can for they will never come back again.1 -
Yes, utterly standard for there to be a charge. £45 + VAT is at the higher end (and yes, the charge they actually pay to their bank will be considerably less) but this is all normal.pumas said:My conveyancer has quoted £45 + vat for 'Bank transfer fee'. Somebody's time in the office will be utilised and charged.1
