Problem with transposing/using password on both laptop and iPhone

This is a really odd problem and I think that I'm going to struggle trying to describe it. I access lots of websites from either my iPhone or my laptop, each login has a unique password, for which I use password vaults. Depending on the OS, it is possible that you are using the double-quote symbol, but that one device interprets this as smart quotes (where left and right quotes are different) and the other treats them as straight ('stupid') quotes.
