Morning all. Thanks for starting us off @Scarlet.The Rebus play last night was very well crafted, great writing from Ian Rankin. The cast were excellent so I enjoyed it despite the sound problems in the first act which meant that a lot of the set up was lost. It all came good in the second half though. The Rebus part was played by Gray O'Brien, I recognised the name but not the face, it niggled at me the whole time. Back in my room I did an internet search for him - he was the first sidekick of Taggart and then did many other mainstream roles. He'd had treatment for throat cancer and lost a load of weight. This morning I have a dental appointment in Glasgow, will do a little shopping and head home. My little foray into the big city has been lovely, now I need my country peace again.@Wicked_Lady - my favourite hotel has closed down. Scot rail, which owns the building, is doing a major renovation of it and the station.I hope that the rain hasn't been too awful for everyone. Hugs to all.9

Morning again, it's dark, damp and dreary here, not quite light yet. It rained most of the day yesterday.
Dp1, hope dg d is home soon.
TA, I 've got your soup recipe as well,, it's so tasty.
I made chicken and chicken and mushroom pies yesterday, dg d was coming for her tea and she had requested chicken pie. DH picked her up from school as it's quite a walk from school to us now she's at secondary school, and it was raining.
Not a lot going on today, just general household stuff. We bought a new fire for the sitting room last week, and it's being installed/ fitted whatever it is tomorrow. It's really nice.
I'm just choking on a particularly horrible tablet, I thought I was only taking one course but they've appeared on my repeat prescription. They are to stave off UTI's, of which I've had a lot over the last year, plus investigations which revealed no apparent cause. These tablets seem to work but they are terrible things.
Anyway, hope everyone has a good day, thinking of anyone who is sad/poorly, and hoping Nan reappears soon.
Take care folks.9 -
Morning All
Quick one from me, I've spent too long faffing about this morning!
Dry but cloudy this morning, it's certainly turned colder. I may have to put my summer dresses away for the third time this year!
Glad you enjoyed the play Gers, safe trip home - I see the RABT is open again.
Scarlet, I feel your pain. I've been taking tablets for my yucky toenail for a couple of months. The tablets are huge, get stuck in my throat and then make me feel sick for a while.
Hope everyone is well, take care. XX8 -

Brrrr it feels very cold this morning it was a struggle to get out of my warm bed, no rain due today but no sun either !
Two people coming today as the third is still on holiday not sure what we will get up to yet but I am sure we will think of something nice to do.
Dinner tonight will be chicken pie mash and veg I will get the potatoes and veg done this morning which will save time later. DD is off today so she will walk the dogs.
I do hope nan is ok we have not seen her for ages.
Have good days all and take care xx

Morning, dry here and I think I can see a bit of blue sky.
Yesterdays bad weather didn't arrive at all. In the morning DH suggested we go out as I had a parcel to take to the post office. While there I took the opportunity to go to the supermarket close by and get a few thing's for my emergency stocks. So now we can expect an Indian summer because I'm all prepared!
My friend rang last night to tell me her dmum is being cremated today but they haven't been given a time. I shall raise a glass (or cup of tea) around midday.
Dont know what's for dinner tonight, but at least we have plenty of choice.
Have a good day.
Love to all x9 -
Morning all, hope it finds you well. I was going to go for a bus ride but it's looking gloomy so I don't think I will, plenty to be doing. I had a quick visit to the hobby shop yesterday to look for some new stuff for my Xmas cards, bought a kit, bit dear but it does have lots of items in. Mind you the price of stamps is making me rethink my list! I was annoyed with myself as I realised it's our friends birthday in a week - I could have taken hers with me when we called up at the weekend!I have half a library book to finish and take back before then as well.I think we'll be having gammon tonight, bought a small joint at weekend. We have booked a meal at the little Italian up the road for tomorrow, with both DSons and the DGC, so we can give DGD her birthday present. We booked a get together when it was my birthday last month but had to cancel due to a date clash so hopefully no hiccups.Derek, glad you've had some company with your brother.Gers , you've reminded me that I didn't finish watching the new series of Rebus!Take care all- hope you have a good day.:heartsmil 'A woman is like a teabag: You never know her strength until you drop her in hot water'. Morning all from a marooned Wicked Lady!
Our road has been officially closed this morning due to flood water but I'm hoping, if we don't have any more rain, I'll be able to walk out in my tallest wellies this afternoon. I have an AGM to get to in Aylesbury this evening so will have to see if I can move the car by then. We live in an old part of town and the drains just can't cope with excessive rain plus the River Ouse is at the back of us so we get cut off through the meadow as well.
I shall tackle the ironing this morning and was thinking of making a big batch of crumble mix, which I'll keep in a bag in the freezer for use over the winter.
@Gers Oh no! That's my favourite place to stay in Glasgow too! Fingers crossed it might open again in the future; it's such a little gem.
Best wishes to all and hope to hear good news from DP1 later.10 -
Morning all! So I'v spent two days catching up so Mehefin, take it easy, stuff just comes along as it comes along so there are going to be days of pain and days of joy and sadness etc, you were together for uch a long time it will be odd now. I second the suggestion of trying to get someone to make it for you, maybe a local engineering firm? dp, Happy belated Birthday! You and your family have been going through the wringer a bit haven't you, hopefully they'll discover what's wrong with your dgd and good news about your ad moving nearer! Gers, glad you had enjoyable tris and the plays were good, shame about the hotel though! Coxy, congratuations on your joggling walk but a shame about the toxic office, not what you want really. How's your dad doing? Remmie, have you tried making it sitting down? OH used the complain all the time about doing the dishes because he couldn't get his boats under the cabinet for the kick boards so it used ot give him a bad back. Topsy, congratulations on your house move and ds walking a bit again, it's been a long old road for you both. Izzy, glad you had a nice holiday with nice weather! peony, happy belated birthday to you too! Ruby, what a lovely thing for the hotel owner to do, take her up on it quick smart! TA, glad you've got your blokey in to sort your front garden, it'll be much nicer looking at it now without the guilt of feeling you should be doing something about it
There's more but my brain has now failed so I do apologise for anything else i've missed...Nanny, cwtches...
So the wedding was lovely, in a very posh vila covered in frescoes, with amazing food [ yes, even for Italy it was a good step up] and my cousin is very happy with it. The newly married couple seem bemused and elated in turn so hopefully they'll get in the swing of things soonI managed to fall and crack my head on the concrete in the yard last week so I'm sporting a fantastic black eye and side of head, no alcohol involved, very disappointing
The weather was hot hot hot for the first ten days or so then it went super chilly, so much so that I had to have a divet on the bed and it was no trouble sleeping upstairs this year. OH has met the family now and is trying out his baby Italian on me [ this from someone who was adamant they were not learning a new language] I cooked yesterday, a sausage sauce for pasta and we ate last night, afterwards, he said thank you vey much, that was lovely, I'd forgotten what it was like to be fed...He's been living on what he calls pos cereal, i.e. breakfast cereal with banana milkshake...I'm not sure about going next year, the garden looks like a jungle and the house was a tip [ brick and plaster dust everywhere, I spent Sunday putting everything plate wise through the dishwasher and cleaning the kitchen - I got back Saturday night] yesterday was washing all the saucepans. OH had covered everything but the dust was so fine it just went straight through. The house is not finished but it looks great, walls are plastered, first fix electrics and plumbing are done, roof is on, fascia, guttering, windows and doors. My favourite bit so far is that the double doors 'lock' open so there's no need to tie up the handles or fit bars to stop them flapping about. I'm really pleased. Right, I have waffled enough now with my essay, so I'll burger off to visit a friends exhibition, and bid you all a great day.

Hello all, I'm still around but I've been dealing with a lot of RL stuff and I didn't want to keep moaning to you lovely people as you all have your own stuff to deal with, hugs to each and everyone of you.
Dad is still here, very thin and frail looking but still stubborn and cantankerous. His OT, Physio and dietitian have now passed him on to the community services as they were given every excuse under the sun as to why he couldn't (wouldn't) do anything they suggested.
We decided to have a break from everything and went away in the van only coming home yesterday afternoon looking like drowned rats as it was persisting it down when we were hitching up the van, then raining constantly on the way home and again while we put it away in the storage compound. We had a lovely time and I spent most of mine sitting in the sun with my head in a book, just chilling, I now have a lovely suntan too. The house felt so cold yesterday that I put the heating on and I did 3 loads of washing which I draped around the house.
Today the wm is back on with another load, that'll teach me to empty the washing basket before hols ! I'll hang it out plus anything that hasn't dried indoors as it's dry outside and the sun is shining, then we'll go back over the van to collect the last few bits, wipe out the fridge and then put the cover back on.
Take care all.
