Booking.com Assistance

I recently booked a two day break through booking.com, hotel in UK. When we left the hotel have us an invoice to pay for the meals drinks etc - it also showed a deduction for the price of the room which we had paid via booking.com. However this was just over 50% less than what we actually paid! I have queried this through booking.com and this was their response
As booking.com we are not the ones who set the rates, and it is set by the properties, and for your type of reservation it is offered by a partner offer company so is not eligible for We Price Match.
Is this correct or are they just fobbing me off???

I think the we price match applies to a cheaper deal before you have actually stayed. You have to contact them 24 hours before your check-in date.
So picking it up at the end of your stay would probably be too late anyway regardless of whether it’s a partner offer or not.All shall be well, and all shall be well, and all manner of things shall be well.
Pedant alert - it's could have, not could of.0 -
I really want to know how they can justify charging over 50% more for the room but they are telling me it’s not them that sets the price. In my mind if it was the hotel why would they put a different amount on the invoice they supplied to me at the end of my stay??0

But you thought it was a good deal at the time you bought it. Which is the more relevant factor.
It’s not really any different buying something full price, and seeing it on sale somewhere else shortly afterwards. You still thought it was worth it when you bought it.All shall be well, and all shall be well, and all manner of things shall be well.
