Tuning already powerful sport cars…what is the point?

You will probably find the transmission and chassis can handle more power and there will be brake and suspension upgrade kits direct from the factory.
Ferrari will probably sell you (well not you, only their prized and special customers) uprated or special versions and one offs that are lighter and more powerful than the standard car any rich enough person can buy from the dealer.
Some want those and even though they are rich enough to pay for them, they aren't special enough in Ferrari's eyes to own one, so they pay someone other than Ferrari to build them something similar.
If you are rich enough why would you want something any other rich enough person can own?
This is the extreme end but it happens everyday in every dealership and supermarket and has done for years.
If you can afford it people will buy the premium version over the base spec.
Why have value sausages when you can afford butchers choice?
Why have a standard 812 when you can have a faster one?0 -

Matter it not, as most people on here don’t own a Ferrari
But plenty on here know what I’m talking about
I'd say you'd have to budget £5K a year just for general maintenance, and thats assuming you're going to be using a good Ferrari Indy and not taking it anywhere near a Ferrari dealer. Fuelling it, insurance...
And whilst on paper there may appear to be little depreciation, come resale time your choices are either trade it in or try to sell it privately. The latter will be to a quite limited market of people who are happy to buy a Ferrari without a warranty or trade in facilities. The former will want a massive margin of profit on it, which will translate to an offer notably lower than retail.
Mileage also impacts the value of them greatly. Anything more than small miles per year and the value plummets.
Running a Ferrari requires very deep pockets.0 -
I had a cars weekend last Saturday/Sunday:
- On Saturday I went to the Beaulieu Autojumble and there were some lovely old cars and random parts for cars you never even knew existed.
- On Sunday I went to the Petrolhedonism show at Knebworth - it was great fun seeing all the modded cars. A previous year there was a diamon-encruster Koenigsegg there; I had a chat with the owner, who shows it for charities - nice bloke.
