Tomato energy have you read their terms and conditions?
I am a notorious non reader of terms and conditions
But these spring out (my words)
1. You must inform them 10 days before you change supplier
2. Reserve the right to object to the change of supplier and / or charge you an unspecified amount for loss of profit

Suspect both terms would break their OFGEM licence,.1

You have now edited 30 days down to 10, I see.0

Much better to quote the actual T&Cs14.11 If You choose to switch suppliers, You must inform Us 30 days before the Supply
Contract End Date. If You choose to switch suppliers at an earlier stage in the
Term, You must inform Us as soon as reasonably practicable, and in any event 10
working days before the date when You intend to switch suppliers. We reserve
the right to object to such a change. If You change supplier without providing Us
with advance notice, We reserve the right to object to the change, and/or to
charge You an early termination fee, representing a sum which is equivalent to a
reasonable pre-estimate of our loss of profitLet's Be Careful Out There2 -
Right so this relates to an exit fee for a fixed rate then, seems fair enough.0

Typo corrected as it should be as I got the latest contract off them this morning, not the same as the one on their website strangely.la531983 said:You have now edited 30 days down to 10, I see.
We are still considering moving to them it works out for us so it's a way of getting people thoughts on what they can or possible cannot enforce.
What with the energy usage cap as well just trying to see where we stand.
Also knowing if we do switch we are probably just adding to others SC for our own gain if tomato energy go bust. But that's more of a moral dilemma
I am also guessing their prices go up 1st October so the clock is ticking.0 -
Well, yes, but the talk of termination fees etc in that T and C surely relates to exiting a fixed rate, although needs to say 42 days rather than 30 I believe.Gerry1 said:
Nope. There's no obligation to contact Tomato, you can just contact the new provider and they'll drive the process.la531983 said:Right so this relates to an exit fee for a fixed rate then, seems fair enough.0
