I parked in a local car park and purchased a ticket which was displayed in my window.
I remember checking the ticket when I returned to the car because I thought I may not have put on enough time. However, I still had 20 minutes left.
I was the shocked when I received a penalty fine through the post. I appealed saying that I had bought and displayed a ticket.
They replied, acknowledging that payment had been made, but I had input the incorrect registration number. I can only imagine one digit was incorrect.
They gave me the option of paying £20 or appealing. I replied asking to see proof and wrote that I had acted in good faith, purchased a ticket for the time I was parked and just wanted to see what I had actually input. For this I had to pay £5.
I heard nothing but then I received a letter from a debt collected asking for £170.
Has anyone had this situation. I am tempted to go to court about it but obviously don't want to end up paying more in court fees etc etc. Any advice please?

Please show us the letter where OPS demanded a fiver for showing you which VRM you input.
I want to see that letter as this is a new scam. Please dig that email or letter out and show it here.
And which car park please? Brighton? Worthing? Where?
