It's Swinton who use Lloyds, as soon as I heard Lloyds I thought here we go. I took them to the Financial ombudsman and won thousands for them miss selling PPI and home insurance before. I didn't realise Swinton used Lloyds until I put in the claim otherwise I wouldn't have gone with them. I left them years ago for banking. There is a reason they sell a Pro as it is better for professionals designing. I studies Graphics, the insurance company have my profession as a designer, I use it for a lot of design work on photoshop and illustrator, it's the reason I got a pro instead of a Air which is a cheaper model that is not really aimed at designers.
Is it lloyds of London or lloyds banking group?

    if your set on disputing
ignore the names compare the specifications, if its not equivalent then go ahead
If your dispute is that one is called air and one is called pro i cant see you being successful.

You should have noticed that swinton use lloyds before claiming, it would have been on the documentation

Lloyds Bank dont sell insurance via brokers and therefore it will be Lloyds of London which has nothing to do with Lloyds Bank (nor the Lloyds List or Lloyds Register). Won't go into the complexities of what Lloyds is but any complaints will show as a complaint against the Society of Lloyds.

For photoshop, illustrator etc the MBA will be more than adequate and a big step up from your old machine which was a bottom of the rung MBP. There is absolutely no point at all getting a MBP with a M3 processor, it's grossly over priced compared to the MBA and is there just to separate pretentious people from their money. The MBP with M3 Pro would be required if you are doing heavy video work or audio but were that the case you'd have dumped the bottom of the range MBP a long time ago already.

You will not get a better outcome simply by arguing about it being "pro", my former client had 800 professionals all using MBAs and a handful of data scientists with a MBP. You need to argue about a feature that you'll lose but just compare the two machines:

    • MBA had large screen and resolution
    • MBA battery is 18hrs -v- the old laptops 10hrs (when new)
    • MBA has more cores
    • MBA has better graphics cores
    • MBA can have more RAM
    • MBA is lighter
    • MBA has higher quality camera
    • MBA has double the speakers
    • MBA has better/more up to date wifi and bluetooth
    • MBA has faster thunderbolt/usbc ports
The list goes on and on.

  • So incase anyone is interested in the result. I did argue the settlement should be based on an old for new macbook pro, as I had a pro, not a macbook air. It went back to the insurers and a lady just called to say yes it should have been based on the model as it is a more expensive model. They upped the settlement to £1500, the cost of a 2023 macbook Pro on John lewis at the moment. I can have vouchers or cash. Obviously it was worth arguing my point as that is £400 more than they offered before going by the price of a new air.
