Help getting copy of divorce decree absolute

currently helping a friend and her son apply for letters of administration following the sudden passing of the boys father, there was no will.
Need to supply the divorce papers as part of the LoA .
the divorce was completed/finalised at Hitchin court 14 years ago, since then Hitchin court has close so her application was ‘redirected’ to Luton Justice Centre via HMCTS.
It’s now been 3 months chasing, we’ve paid the £65 fee, been told the decree absolute has been located at Luton, it just hasn’t been sent out.
Have called the 2 numbers we’ve found for Luton Justice Centre every day, but after 20 minutes on hold it automatically cuts you off.
Have also emailed the only email address we have which is a @justice.gov.uk address, it looks like a central office in Holborn, London.

We are at a dead end, and have no way of chasing or even getting a reply.
Any help or advice greatly appreciated.

  • There is an email address for the family court on the website. If ringing them I would try doing that bang on 9am to try and be first in. If your friend lives locally then she could also make an appointment to see a real person at the counter service.

Yes you do - and after 3 months a complaint is more than merited:
