Good morning everyone
Grey and damp here following overnight rain with more promised today, but we have got off quite lightly compared to some areas. Managed to clear nearly all my pots in the garden on Saturday afternoon and Sunday morning. Still got to clear my borders and baskets ready for the winter stock so a long way to go yet. I'm expecting the gas engineer later to bring a part to fix my fire, I hope it goes to plan.
Dp1- hope little one gets her treatment sorted soon and can go home.
I also hope Nan is alright, she has had so much to deal with recently.
Best wishes to everyone else, especially the sad and the poorlies
Take care x10 -
Morning all, dull and cooler but not raining atm. Hotel breakfast sounds good to me Gers.Glad you enjoyed the show.Dp1, glad to hear L.O is back in familiar surroundings but hope they can sort her quick so she can go home at last.I did quite a bit of batch cooking yesterday, chicken soup with the leftover carcass, and a sort of chicken stew I'm going to top with mash , as the men enjoyed it last week.We called at our friends and she gave me a big bag of prepped apples from her tree
, so also made apple sauce to go with our pork, and some mini apple crumbles,1 of which I had.Froze the rest. Did some creme brulees for the men. Must be the incoming autumn which gave me a prepping boost
DGD's birthday sleepover was a success, but DS was shattered yesterday. She turns into a teenager later this week!Hope Nan is ok (((hugs))) to her and others in need.Well the kitchen needs a proper sort out this morning, DH helped yesterday after my cooking spell but there is still stuff not put away, like the IPot I used to make the soup, blender etc. so I shall love you and leave you & wish you a good day.PS it's raining now, back to normal after a lovely week - think my walks will be shorter now:heartsmil 'A woman is like a teabag: You never know her strength until you drop her in hot water'. Morning everyone
Thank you all for your good wishes for little one and her mummy, hopefully her consultant will have some ideas today and she'll be home soon.
I've done an e consult this morning as I'm quite sure I have a chest infection - I'm hoping I'll get either a prescription or an appointment later.
Yesterday afternoon I spent some time tidying in the garden. I had some lovely poppies appear beside my front door in the summer...I thought I'd sprinkle the seeds from the pods now they're dry and hopefully get some more next year. Does anyone know do I do it now or in the spring?
I have some ironing to do so I'll get on with that, there's not much but it includes my work trousers so I'll have to do it.
Hope everyone has a good day today x8 -
TravellingAbuela said:CHRISCA I came across the lentil soup recipe years ago in a slow cooker recipe book but these days I don't always bother getting the sc out and just make it in a big pan. So up to you!
4 rashers streaky bacon, 1 medium onion and a small carrot, all finely chopped. 115 g red lentils (no need to soak first) 400g tin tomatoes, half tsp mixed dried herbs (optional) and 850ml chicken or ham stock. Either slow cook or simmer gently till everything cooked and liquidise when cool. Adding salt and black pepper to taste.
Maybe you could halve the ingredients first time to see if you like it! x
Thanks very much, once I've got all the ingredients I'll have a go. It does sound perfect for winter x

Good afternoon from a very soggy Mehefinland
Well the rain has been biblical today so I attempted to bring the guys into the bran early. They were not in the least bothered and looked at me as if to say in the manner of a teenager, 'What!' or more accurately as I recall 'Wha'. I go t soaked in the process and discovered my 'field' shoe has parted company with the sole and was leaking. That's one for the bin later.
Looked in on my friends 2 dogs whilst they went to the eye clinic at the nearer horsepital. 2 hours later they were still there waiting for various bits and bobs to be done. Went back and checked on them again- the one will not go out for a wee. I'm sure it was a camel in a previous life.
Little brother stayed last night has taken himself off on a nostalgia run around the area. Couldn't have been worse weather for it but he seemed quite undeterred. off for a meal at the Blue Anchor Inn later which will be a nice change.
Collected 2 big rolls of loft insulation from someone who was getting rid on FB. Just about managed to get them in the car! The fitting is a task for another day ( after I've cleared out the loft!).
Roast chicken last night and plenty left over for the next few days. Cat is in heaven as she gets all the little bits left over.
Thats all for now-glad DP's little un is getting the treatment she needs.
Hugs and spoons as always
