Morning All
Thanks for the start Gers, hope you enjoyed the show.
Dry again this morning but still dark. After a few weeks of dry weather we are due rain from tomorrow, shame, I've enjoyed it being decent for a change.
Shopping done yesterday, got another Christmas present too. Lots of little jobs done about the house, will need to find the curtain for the back door before it gets cold, can't remember where I put it after it was washed!
I made thai carrot soup yesterday which was very tasty, have more in the fridge for this week although I'll not take it into work in case it causes windy conditions!
Hope the little one is settled dp1.
Anyone heard from Nanny?
Hope you are all well and have a happy Monday. Take care. XX12 -
Morning allIt was absoluely pouring down when I got up earlier but it seems to haved stopped for a while now but looking at the weather forecast it looks like it'll be back for a few hours soon.Nothing on the cards today except catching up with a pile of ironing. I'd like to have got out into the garden but that's not going to happen. I'm sure I'll find something to keep me occupied,Hope little one has settled back into 'her' hospital and they solve her problem so she can be home soon @dp1Have a good day all x10

Good morning, thanks for stsrting Gers.
It's a bit gloomy here, very cloudy. Dry though, that's something.
I haven't posted for a day or two, had a run of had nights and felt like nothing on earth in the mornings. Last night was better though.
Your soup sounds nice Camelot, but you're probably doing the right thing not taking it to work!
Visiting a house bound friend this morning, and dg d is coming for her tea after school. She started secondary school a couple of weeks ago, she's nearly 12. Unbelievable how the years fly away.
Hope everyone has a good day, take care folks.11 -
Morning all and thanks for the start @Gers x
Heavy rain here overnight but it’s stopped for the moment. I have a new boss today so will grab milk for the office and get in a bit earlier to prepare! Managed to get AB’s from the pharmacist yesterday - only 6 tablets though(?) so hope they work.We enjoyed the Call the Midwife tour yesterday at Chatham Dockyard. Mum has had a couple of scam attempts - two letters received from high street banks re: her (non-existent) credit card applications! Will be dealing with those later as her POA.Washing is on - DH will festoon it around later. Roast chicken crown for dinner tonight mmmm
Glad to hear little DGD is back in Newcastle @dp1. Let’s hope she’s on the mend soon - fingers crossed.Have a good day all

Morning folks and thanks GERS. Did you enjoy Ed? True to forecast the rain did get to us last night but if it was heavy I slept through it! Light rain is forecast for most of the day but I'm sure I can find some indoor jobs to occupy me!
Autumn must be with us as I made a batch of lentil and bacon soup yesterday and lunch was a hm shepherds pie from the freezer, with lots of veg, all smothered in gravy. There are leftovers of all the veg for today's dinner but I will need to rummage in the freezer for something to go with them. I'm sure there is some sliced beef in gravy out there which will do nicely.
Good news Dp1 but it will be better news when she is finally home to stay. Fingers crossed. CAMELOT I too am worrying about NAN. I know she does go AWOL from time to time when RL gets on top of her, but never usually for this long. But she has both her dad and Mr Fix-It to worry about, as well as her own problems. ((HUGS)) coming her way.
Have a good day folks if you can and ((HUGS) for our other poorlies and sad. Take care all, be safe xx

@TravellingAbuela now I'm a lady of leisure I've started to think about making my own soup. I'd love your recipe for lentil and bacon soup if you don't mind x

I've had my hotel breakfast. 😀 I don't normally eat in the morning but the lure of a cooked breakfast is difficult to resist, especially when the chef makes me fried eggs - can't bear the scrambled stuff. I got fascinated by a chap nearby who firstly had two boiled eggs followed by two fried ones (which he ate yolks first) and finally lemon drizzle cake with chocolate sauce poured over. Of course, I shouldn't have been gawping, such bad manners. 😰
Ed Byrne was both outstanding and astounding. He's taken a tragic family event to make a truly brave, funny and rude show. If anyone gets the chance to go it's so worthwhile, certainly the best thing I've seen in decades. Once back in my hotel room I found out that it's coming to a venue more local to me in October. Typical! As it's raining and very dark here I may just stay indoors. I don't fancy trailing round looking at things I don't want or even need. Tonight it's the Rebus play which is a whole different beast.@Scarlet - good to see you again.@Coxy - hope that the new boss is better than the old one and that the ABs do their stuff.@Camelot - good luck with finding the curtain.@DP1 - my fingers are crossed for little one getting back today. It's miserable outside but I feel cosy and happy. Hugs to all.9 -
Morning very dark here but heavy rain forecast. Looking at the weather report last night we are in a yellow warning zone.
I must get organized as when we have this weather the roads around flood and it makes it difficult to leave the village. I stupidly didn't expect it this soon, but have enough in for now.
Yesterday's roast dinner was delicious. I was going to make a curry with the leftover chicken but looking at the forecast really fancy beef stew and dumplings. Will see what DH wants, I can always freeze the chicken for another time.
Dp1, so glad little one is back in her own hospital, hope they can get to the bottom of it and shes soon home.
Have a good day.
Love to all x10 -
Morning all
Its been raining most of the night and we are to except it all day too, Rob is due back today (unless I get a phone call this morning) so we are going to meet our friends and go bowling and have some lunch out, I hope he does come as it will do him good to get out from that house for a while.
Dinner tonight will be chicken casserole and rice I will get it ready this morning and pop it in the oven later, talking of the oven I spent most of yesterday cleaning mine, I am ashamed to say it was a right state I left it far too long since the last clean but it looks so much better now so much so I don’t want to use it 😂
DP1 I am glad little one is back in her hospital xxx
Have good days all and take care xx10 -
CHRISCA I came across the lentil soup recipe years ago in a slow cooker recipe book but these days I don't always bother getting the sc out and just make it in a big pan. So up to you!
4 rashers streaky bacon, 1 medium onion and a small carrot, all finely chopped. 115 g red lentils (no need to soak first) 400g tin tomatoes, half tsp mixed dried herbs (optional) and 850ml chicken or ham stock. Either slow cook or simmer gently till everything cooked and liquidise when cool. Adding salt and black pepper to taste.
Maybe you could halve the ingredients first time to see if you like it! x"If you dream alone it will remain just a dream. But if we all dream together it will become reality"10
