Is it worth claiming on insurance for rear windscreen
Somehow I was reversing out of a parking space and I hit I gate post and it's dented the back of my car and unbelievably somehow completely smashed my rear windscreen. Checked my insurance and it's a £115 excess for windscreen. I imagine would cost me around £250 to pay for it myself. Is it worth going through the insurance I have protected no claims and I can't imagine would increase the premium that much when it's up for renewal. On a second nkt I'm more concerned that they may not be able to fit a new windscreen and it is dented just below where the glass would go

How new and smart if this car?I managed to dent the back right on the lock from a bit of metal stuck out of a small trailer and was invisible to me. It took someone 5mins to knock it back out in exchange for a box of chocolates.I've had a second hand rear window when the heating element went. That was a lot cheaper than new.But if you've got a lovely newish car and it would affect the value it would be worth either going through the insurance or paying it yourself and getting a few quotes.Protected NC will allow a certain number. You need to read your insurance documents to see how many and if it's worth it.
viral kindness .....kindness is contageous pass it on
The only normal people you know are the ones you don’t know very well

In my experience, even if you do pay for the repair yourself, you have to inform the insurance company. Your premium is likely to increase despite it costing the insurance company nothing. I'm told it's because you've proved yourself risky. ☹️0

I'd take it to a windscreen fitters, see what they say regarding the cost & viability of fitting a new window and take it from there. I certainly wouldn't be telling the insurance company anything at this stage.

It does seem to do know what happened and why, which means you're far less likely to make the same mistake.
