Hi

I bought a rucksack from Currys the other day, as it looked a lot better than the one I had been using for taking my laptop away.

And it came with a male USB cable on the inside, and a female USB port on the outside.

There were no instructions. And I couldn't work out how to charge the bag in order for the bag to charge anything else. The assistant didnt know either.

Once home, I plugged in the long USB cable into a socket for two hours. No reassuring lights came on anywhere.

Then I tried plugging in two different devices and two different cables (USB micro and USB C) into the bag's exterior USB socket and nothing happened. It was not charging anything.

I also can't understand how it can store any charge either because there is no obvious box, like a powerbank. It's literally just a socket on the outside and a cable on the inside, and nothing else.

Am I being thick?!

I get the feeling I have missed something obvious.

Any help appreciated.

Thank you

Looks like it is just filled with cable for the purposes of charging, it says "charging port".

If it had a powerbank there would have to be a declaration of its size as there are limits on aircraft.

You put your own power bank inside and connect it to the cable inside. You can the use the connection on the outside to run a cable to the device you want to charge.

There is no battery as part of the bag itself. You have to provide it.

Ah ok yes I have a good powerbank so no problem there.

I was just confused because I currently use my powerbank with a normal bag, that doesnt have these USB connectors.

    Thanks a lot

Or rather than a power bank, you could plug it into the laptop USB port and use that as a power source if the USB ports are powered with the laptop off.

It does seem to be a bit technology solving a problem that never existed :o
Like most things of convenience its very much first world problems but the Mrs has a bag she likes for travel because its got a dozen sections but the down side is when its stuffed full and you just realise you've been on your phone a bit too much on a flight and need to top up the battery having a single port on the outside is much easier to plug into than remember which part of the bag you put the power bank and finding it amongst all the other stuff you've got in there.

If its raining it also means you can keep the weather zips fully closed, especially if your using your laptop as the power source as suggested above, rather than having it part unzipped with a wire hanging out.

I wouldn't pay anything more for a bag with it than without but it does solve small problems
