PC issue

Options
I brought a PC recently for my son.

His having some problems playing roblox games.  The spec of pc is Intel core i7, gtx 1650, 16gb ram and 1tb ssd.

When he plays the game and shoots another player it takes a few seconds for the action to happen. Fps is not stable it shows 87 and then goes to 100 plus and then to 400.

I belive the FPS should be around 60?

There was limited Internet upstairs so brought TP link box which I connected one downstairs and two upstairs. I think problem may be with WiFi connection?

What can I do?

Thanks

Is it possible to move the PC to enable a direct cable connection to the modem ?

I assume those speed tests were done on his PC ?

59ms ping will def be noticeable when gaming but shouldn’t be causing the issues he’s getting

The change in fps up to 400 suggests he might need to change a setting in his monitor to cap it at 60 ( or higher depending on the exact monitor he has)

Have you/he tried googling to see if it’s a common “problem” with that particular game ?

With that spec of machine, he shouldn't be having problems.

You could review the information here: How to Reduce Lag and Speed Up Play – Roblox Support

You might also try this simple game to check FPS and Ping: Flex Your FPS And Ping! - Roblox

I don't think there is any problem with FPS above 60, and some variability in the FPS might be expected if the amount of graphical computation varies due to there being more/less that needs rendering.

The latancy on the connection is not good. Adding the TPLink box might have caused additonal latency which is affecting game play. It would be better to run an Ethernet cable from the router to the PC. You could loosely lay the cable to test whether this fixed the problem, and then install the cable neatly once you are happy that it does so.
The comments I post are my personal opinion. While I try to check everything is correct before posting, I can and do make mistakes, so always try to check official information sources before relying on my posts.

Setting a frame cap (e.g., 60 or 120 FPS) can smooth out performance in Roblox
