Sadly confused about house move and energy supplier

I would start the switch to Octopus on the same day you move in [ if not toooooo stressed with everything else ].
Do not forget to take date stamped photos of ALL meter readings - old + new property.3 -

Just select the day of moving, would then just have a week with OVO that tenancy started.

Well the traditional advice has always been that when moving in to a property where contact has been made with the new supplier to take over the supply - as is the case here - it is best to then leave a few weeks before trying to switch to the preferred supplier. The Octopus “move home” method of instigating the switch works well where no contact is ever made with the new supplier - I can vouch for that from personal experience - but I don’t know how well it would cope - and what issues there might be - where it involves then taking over the supply at the new property within 10 days of so of that supply having already been switched to the Octopus customer?

Customers have notified Octopus via moving out button and signed up from scratch at new address maybe using a different email address gaining £50 friend credit spoke of, I would be surprised if it could be gained in conjunction with moving tariff service also spoke of due to 12 month rule.
Maybe O/P referring to something else "Octopus are offering 50 squids for switching before the end of the month and I don’t want to miss out on this either"

Has worked for other customers as above notified Octopus via move out button moving out without stating intention of taking Octopus to new address.0 -
Annie1612 said:I read through my contract, which I hadn’t signed, and there is a section about energy whereby the letting agency (Frank Innes) initiate the switch to OVO for the new tenant and basically give permission on behalf of the tenant for OVO to supply the house. Which is interesting because I specifically asked the letting agent who was supplying the energy and broadband, and they told me OVO and shortly after I received the email from OVO to create my account. When I go on the the newly created ovo account it tells me that a switch is in place but not complete yet. So I presume the agents supplied my contact THEN sent me the contract telling me they were doing this haha. No restrictions on changing supplier though.I think best to notify Octopus about leaving my current home, start the new tenancy with OVO, then switch to Octopus as soon as possible. Thanks for the replies.1

Do you think I could refer my husband? My name is on the account in my present house, his name is on the OVO account at the new tenancy. Would that be a bit sneaky? I honestly thought the £50 for simply for a new account at a new address and not a referral.0
