Widowed Parents allowance claim

I am hoping that this post may provide me with some much needed advice.
My partner (not Married) but living together for 15 years died as a result of a work related accident leaving me a single parent to our 11 year old daughter.
I was informed that the rules had changed for cohabiting couples and that I may have a claim, I checked the criteria online and seemed to tick all the boxes.
on 30/1/24 before the cut off date I sent off the claim, it was only a couple of days ago I finally received a response. I was sent one letter telling me I was to receive £133.79 per week, along with another letter telling me because some 27 months after my partner died I had moved on with a new partner from May 2015 and therefore not entitled to anything.
I am hoping for some clarification as to why I am not to receive backdated payments from date of death 21/2/15 to when I stated living with new partner from May 2015? (27 Months)
There appears to be many threads of others with the same circumstances as myself who received backdated payments and in some cases had lost their loved ones before I did.
I am hoping somebody may be able to advise me further as to what I can do.

If my memory is correct if your circumstances changed prior to a certain date, (31 Aug 2018) it cancelled your entitlement. But I could be wrong.
You are correct that the rules changed for cohabiting partners and that this was applied retrospectively but sadly as you moved in with someone else it means you cant claim.Proud to have dealt with our debtsStarting debt 2005 £65.7K.

Pete Uk is correct. To be get for a back dated payment you must be eligible at 31 August 2018. As you moved in in 2017 you are not eligible.0
