Spam Calls from Virgin Media

I've received MANY calls from Virgin Media (or the spam workers saying they're from Virgin Media) stating they wish to review my contract - which doesn't actually end until July 2025.  Today is 20th September 2024.  Today, someone called me from 0800 052 8675.  I asked the lady if she doesn't realise that her colleagues have already called me a number of times in the last 3mths to review my contract, and how many times do they need to be told that I am not interested?  She was oblivious to my question and when I said that this is another spam call and the next time they call I shall report them, she simply continued on with her script!  Going through my phone, I've noted the calls received from them:

0800 052 7551 called me on 16th and 18th Sep.
0800 052 5306 called me on 12th Sep.
0800 052 9406 called me on 2nd, 3rd, 5th, 9th, 10th, 11th, 12th, 15th, 16th, 19th, 23rd, and 24th July and on the 4th and 9th Sep.

How do I stop them bothering me?  Blocking numbers makes no difference as we see they call from diffrent numbers.

If she continued talking without taking any note of you are you sure "she" wasn't actually a recording?  I had one of those the other day where there were occasional pauses when I tried to talk but "she" would then ignore me and keep talking.

And yes blocking won't help with these as they are not normally from the numbers that appear to be calling you.  A computer is faking the "called from" number or bouncing it around through various systems so suddenly you appear to be getting a call from someone down the road or from Liverpool or wherever.

I've been told in the past that I shouldn't answer calls coming from numbers I don't know but I am aware that local NHS protocol is to not leave messages so if I don't pick up a call I might miss something vital.

If you do seem to be getting calls with a real person on the line try answering "Police Fraud Team!" and that might flag your number with them as someone troublesome and not worth the effort.

I got one today. I simply press block. My phone has a spam symbol that it puts on the screen when it suspects the number is spam and I simply don't answer it, or I can press "screen call" and it makes them state their purpose for calling without my answering and they always hang up 🤣

You say it makes no difference but if you block the number then that one that called you 14 times from the same number wouldn't have been able to call. It filters them out eventually.
When I worked in a call centre as a 16 year old kid, we would leave in the system anyone who was rude etc just because we were !!!!!! like that, so it's best to just hang up and not engage.

I've had calls from my Drs surgery and the local Physiotherapy dept. in the last few months - came up as number not recognised -or similar.
