Wrong Item Received eBay

Hi, not sure how to deal with this one, so I ordered a vinyl record, it was a totally different item. I messaged the seller, and they were apologetic and said the correct item would be sent and keep the wrong item. So I offered to return it but they don't want it back. Nine days later, there was no replacement, plus I received a later different order after messaging about the first wrong item received.
So messaged again as to where it is. No response.
Me
"Hi **** still have not received my replacement for this item; I didn't order. So I will open a return on this record so I can buy the correct one"

Ans
"Your replacement has been posted 2nd class so it takes a few days. No need to return the wrong record as it will create a cost to me and of return postage. Please keep record "
Me
"Can you please supply that postage reference please"
??? No response.
So I opened a return QR reference label received.
Then I get refunded by the seller for the full amount, so do I continue to return an item they clearly don't want because of costs or just accept the refund, but if I don't return it, they'll claim it wasn't received, and I'll end up out of pocket with the wrong item. Bearing in mind I haven't used the return label but it's printed and ready to go.
Do they receive just the label cost back the or entire amount back if I don't use the label to return it ? So they clearly didn't send any replacement because you would have reference numbers for that. So do I use the return that they don't want me to or risk item not returned and lose entire refund ?

So you got refunded and the seller said they don't want the incorrect item returned. What is the problem? I assume all the messages were sent via eBay, so eBay will have a record of this agreement between you.

Yes I do in messages but with a QR eBay label open ready to dispatch, if I fail to use it then seller can claim it didn't arrive for the full amount if tracking shows no initial scans, even though clearly stating they don't want it back.
And have no reference details for any replacement sent for correct order. That's wrong any seller would be able to generate that information.0 -
If a return label has been provided, I would send it back.

I agree. If it's something you have no need for or do not want, you have a label, just send it back.0

I did send it back to him, and he wasn't happy about it, but I don't see why I should keep something I didn't order and be out of pocket.
But getting the instant refund could end up costing you, if you don't return it so beware of that it's double-barrelled you can lose.0 -

If you had to return it then refund would be after the seller received it.
The reason seller is unhappy is by using the label the seller would have been charged for it.

You gave the fellow enough time to send the correct record. They didn't do this, and also wouldn't provide proof of posting for it. So you did the correct thing by following eBay rules in order to get your money refunded. That's it - don't worry about the fellow being cross - that's on them.We don't know - and likely never will - whether the guy was genuinely intending to send the correct record, unless it actually turns up, post-dated to before you returned the other one! In which case, it would be good to offer to pay for the correct record. If it doesn't turn up, then it looks as tho' they never sent it, so they've had just desserts.0
