Tesco Bank emailed me saying they are Migrating to Barclays

Hi,

Is this a genuine email? Want to make sure it is not a scam. Email says migrating to Barclays on the 1st November 2024.

I have a Tesco Clubcard Pay+ bank account that has a account number & sort code. Can I setup Direct Debits or Standing Orders from this account?

If I cannot setup DD's or SO's then will I be able to after the 1st Nov? 

After 1st Nov the Tesco Bank app no longer work and the only way to access my bank account is through Barclays app and will I receive a new Barclays debit card to replace the Tesco Clubcard Pay+ debit card?

Otherwise which bank accounts from the list below allow Direct Debits?:

- Revolut
- Wise

The proposed transfer is subject to High Court (the Court) approval, as required by law. Details of the proposed transfer are set out in a document called the ‘Scheme Document’. The Court will consider the Scheme Document at a hearing expected to take place on 17 October 2024.

If the Court approves the proposed transfer, we expect it to become effective on 1 November 2024, 2 weeks from the date of the Court hearing. Your account(s) and product(s) will transfer to Barclays on that date.

No it doesn't

I believe they both do but Wise is not a bank and the payee might not recognise them as a valid DD provider

Yes.

No.

No.

The Tesco Bank app will continue to work and so will the Tesco combined Clubcard and debit card.

No it doesn't

I don't know when that notice was posted , but Tesco Bank  do not have any current accounts.

Erm.... Tesco Bank used to have current accounts- because I had a couple. Long gone.

settings up DD?- all the major banks have current accounts where you can do that

The Tesco current accounts were closed on 30 November 2021:

There were only 213,000 accounts, and only 12% of them were used as primary bank accounts.

Tesco appears to have stripped out all the features that were expensive to provide and little used. I do not expect that there are many Clubcard Pay+ accounts, but I have one as a secondary account.
