    The OP is talking about travel from Edinburgh to London, not your average short journey. I’ve travelled from Scotland to London many times but have never considered taking the car. Would seem an odd option unless you were actually going to use it once there. Always plane or train for me.

    Funny that 40MPG is a gas guzzler, wonder what you would call an old modifed /lifted/mud tyres/ Petrol V8 carb Range Rover which averaged 9mpg on LPG.

    I remember family cars doing mid 20's and smaller 'economy' cars doing 30mpg.  Family car that does 40mpg must be secret alien tech...
