Job seekers allowance question

I am about to be made redundant from my job of 22years.  I expect I will need to apply for JSA.  I have looked at all the official advice and realise I need to apply and then will be called in for a meeting at the Job centre.

My question is, the subsequent contact with the job centre, is this still in person, or over the phone.

Any information will be appreciated

From my experience all meetings are in person.  You can't dial in from your holiday home in the sun

The first meeting will be face to face. Other appointments might be over the phone, video call or at the job centre. They often change appointments to phone/video but it will tell you in your online account.
    Come on you Irons

They don't hold video appointments for Job seekers allowance. That is only available for Universal Credit claimants.

Best to ask at first Job Centre appointment. They can complete subsequent appointments by phone call or Job Centre.
The comments I post are personal opinion. Always refer to official information sources before relying on internet forums. If you have a problem with any organisation, enter into their official complaints process at the earliest opportunity, as sometimes complaints have to be started within a certain time frame.

Similar situation a couple of years back and my first 2 appointments were F2F.

At that point I had secured a very small part time job but needed to continue with appts to keep getting JSA.  Problem was that my NIno meant I had to have meetings on Thursday mornings.  And my job was on Thursday mornings.  So I arranged to have phone appointments.

Well none of these ever worked out as they didn't call at the agreed time or day and would ring me at random points in the week - and normally when I was unable to answer the call - like when I was driving to or from work.  I would try to return the call but the only number available was to their general call centre who would take a message.  Eventually this all got logged as me being unco-operative and my JSA was stopped due to my non compliance.  I logged a complaint but that was disregarded as I had "refused" to attend meetings.

Of course I'm not bitter and twisted about this (much) but just wanted to warn you what you might be up against in order to collect £60ish a week.
