Hi All,
I have recently moved house, I transferred my supplier E.on Next from my old property to my new property and took out a new 12 month fix. However, I have received a letter in the post on the day of our move from OVO energy saying we're your new energy supplier.
Is this letter from OVO just a standard letter from when the previous owners submitted their final reading? Do I need to contact either E.on or OVO to check?
I have all of my online account set up for E.on and have been submitting meter readings with all of it working okay- I have also booke to upgrade the meters to smart ones.
I don't want to find out in a few months time that OVO are also demanding payment in error.
Thank you all in advance,
Kind regards,
Cam

Normally when you move house the existing supplier carries on supplying to the new owner, you can request that the supply at the new house is transferred to a different supplier but that can take a few weeks.
Have you got documentation and readings from Eon that stipulates when the supply at the new address starts?
I think you may end up with an interim bill from OVO from the time you moved in to the time EON took over.
Check the readings and dates on any invoices you get to make sure they don't overlap or you are being billed for the exiting occupier.0 -

I have nothing from E.On other than what is on my online account- I was able to do this all through their "moving home" section which as far as I am aware meant that they handled the switch over in the entirety and would begin from the day I moved in and therefore no need to deal with OVO.
It just seems like a bit of a grey area where nothing much has been said to me, but I don't like the feeling of the possible impending bill from OVO when I am not using them for supply.0 -

Why not give them a ring or use online chat?0 -
The "Move home" services CAN work seamlessly - we brought Octopus with us to our current property which was previously supplied by Eon, the supply had already switched by the time we walked in the door on completion day, and although I did contact Eon subsequently as we received a letter the day after we moved in saying "Welcome to Eon" this turned out to simply be as a result of our sellers terminating their account.
Personally, I would call OVO and ask whether they are still supplying the property. You should be able to check this without giving them any of your own personal details. You are right to get things ironed out now though. Once you have clarity from OVO, take a name of who you spoke with and write on the letter that, plus the date and time of the call.🎉 MORTGAGE FREE (First time!) 30/09/2016 🎉 And now we go again…New mortgage taken 01/09/23 🏡

I will contact OVO and double check, hopefully no issues there!1 -
This never seems to go smoothly. Hopefully you have photographs of the meter on the day you moved in so you can prove your usage, and confirmation from EoN that you are paying them. Sometimes you have to just be persistent - when I moved in here I kept getting bills for £2,000 as the house had been empty but the sellers didn't inform the energy company so they were estimated on 4 people living here...it wasn't even my bill as it was up to the day I moved in. Took about 2 months to get it sorted0

Annoyingly I can't find where I saved the photos... typical. But I do have a screenshot of my opening readings on the E.On next app so I know what the values were, so hopefully this will be okay if I run into any trouble.0
