replacing an old texecom alarm panel

Hi,

I'm replacing it with an old (but new and never used) accenta mini and an old (also new and never used) accenta+ non LCD keypad

Trouble is... connected the keypad to the unit and on power on all I'm getting is a quick flashing of the keypad followed by the keypad alarm continuously sounding

non of the keys do anything and non of the keypad LED's are lit

any ideas please?

Thanks

Harry

It's a long time since I had an accenta. The keys should definitely stay lit. There is no keypad addressing to get wrong.

    How old is it?

Is the keypad wired as per page 5 of the installers manual including the tamper loop?

Do you know the engineer code?

Have you got a good battery installed?

Are the glass fuses on the board both ok

Maybe share a photo of the board and the wiring on the back of the keypad.

  • hi lorian...

    How old is it?

    about 5 to 10 years :(

Is the keypad wired as per page 5 of the installers manual including the tamper loop?

Yes, the four power/comms/sound wires are connected ok at both ends as well (i've even tried putting a jumper on the tamper connectors on the keypad side and the alarm side)

Do you know the engineer code?

    Yes, its brand new

Have you got a good battery installed?

I'm waiting for the battery, ordered it yesterday

Are the glass fuses on the board both ok

Yes I've got a load of spare ones, but checked each of the four and all are ok

Maybe share a photo of the board and the wiring on the back of the keypad.

    Ok will do....

what i've just noticed in the manual......

"IMPORTANT NOTE: do not power on the panel for the first time without first confirming a keypad is connected to the panel"

I didn't do that when i powered up the panel temporarily to confirm it was working :(

I wonder if there is no going back now?

    Thanks

Is the tamper spring in the back of the keypad ok?

I don't know why it says that in the manual.

Also have a search on old posts on the diynot forum that used to be the place to get accenta help
