Motorpoint Vs Manufacturers Warrantee

Motorpoint Vs Manufacturers Warrantee
I just bought a Citroen from Motorpoint
The car was just over a year old so I asked the salesman whether it had it's first service (to maintain its warrantee), he told me it had because they did it. Spoke to a different salesman on collection and asked about manf warantee where he told me it had to be a Citroen specialist, so I reminded him that they aren't Citroen specialist but he then waffled about Motorpoint being different because they deal with lots of cars??
I get home with the car and discovered the service book had no stamp?
Contacted cs who emailed me a receipt for oil and filter, I question whether there should be more to a first service, she put me onto someone else in cs who sent me a more detailed invoice. I also noticed that reset the service counter. Satisfied I just clipped that inside the service book.
FFWD few weeks where I installed the Citroen app to use some features where it warned me that first service has not been completed???
Contacted Motorpoint customer service again who just asked me to forward their service summary to Citroen. Citroen said there's no record of a service on the car and she just asked me to book it in for a service. I asked customer service at Citroen weather my car was still under warranty and she didn't know so I asked if she doesn't know who does?
So now I currently have no service record as far as Citroën the concerned so is my car still warrantied??
The irony being that Motorpoint will only warranty cars that are over 3 years old because as far as they concerned the manufacturer warranty covers cars under three years old.
Unless I'm missing something I don't understand how Motorpoint can process nearly new cars like this without seeing the problem.
As far as I can see I'm going to have to take the car to Citroën to have its service to get the stamp on the service book and an update on the service systems but surely Motorpoint should pay for that because that's what I asked for.
What are your thoughts?

Rule 1 - never take the dealer's word for anything.
Get is serviced by Citroen and ask Motorpoint to pay for the cost of the service since they said they had serviced it and did not. You will need Citroen's evidence that it wasn't serviced.
If you have home insurance, check to see if you have legal expense cover. If you do, call the Legal Helpline before your do anything else. The comments I post are my personal opinion. While I try to check everything is correct before posting, I can and do make mistakes, so always try to check official information sources before relying on my posts.3 -
To keep the warranty the car needs to be serviced by a VAT registered garage to the OEM schedule and using OEM equivalent parts with invoices to evidence. It does not need to be done at a franchised dealer.

For any Manufacture warranty you need a Main dealer service history otherwise you will be fighting them for any warranty claims. Fr what it costs for a service, it's worth doing.
I bought a Citroen from Motorpoint years ago, it was the worst car I ever had and the worst customer service experience. They used to own CarCraft who sold rubbish overpriced cars to people who couldn't afford it on ridiculously expensive finance deals.
I think Motorpoint was a slight step up from Carcraft but not really much better.2 -

Not saying you shouldn't have a main dealer do it. But legally you have a choice.
It is illegal for them to insist you have to in order to maintain the warranty. If the OP has evidence that Motorpoint did the service to the OEM level (usually a check sheet covering all the same checks) and a VAT invoice for the service showing OEM equivalent parts then they do not need to have it re-done.
It does not matter if the online manufacturers system says it has been serviced or not if there is sufficient evidence.
From what they have said they likely don't currently have sufficient evidence if they only have a parts invoice and no check sheet, but they may be able to get that.
As for dealer servicing not being that much more expensive, if you call twice the price (compared to a local independent specialist) not much. This is a money saving site after all.
Not sure how Motorpoint control the manufacturers build quality, but they certainly do their customer service.1 -
Im not surprised the Citroen app doesn't know about the service if Motorpoint did it. The important points here are was the oil and filter and any other required service items of the correct type, and we're they done in time with regards to the first service interval and mileage to maintain the warranty.

Mpoint have sent me a very detailed actions of the service carried out including items not replaced and when they should be replaced. I'm confident in the work they have done but I'm only concerned about it not being "on the record" and possible warranty arguments so I might just have it redone with Citroën0
