How to contact Amazon with no account access

Completely out of the blue I received an email from Amazon stating:
"We detected unusual activity on your Amazon account, so we placed it on hold temporarily and canceled any pending orders or subscriptions."
Initially I thought it was a scam so ignored it.
I then got an email saying:
"Thank you for submitting your appeal."
So, I thought I'd log in to Amazon and see what was going on. When I try to log in, I get a screen saying "Account on hold temporarily", telling me to enter billing details of my most recent order. I haven't placed an order for 2 months!
I was able to enter information into a Comments field a post this.
I then get an email reply stating:
"Our team has reviewed your request and has provided the appropriate resolution for your case."
I have received nothing that tells me what to do and cannot log into my Amazon account.
As I cannot log into my Amazon account, I cannot find any way to contact Amazon customer services to try to find out what on earth is going on.
I am worried my account has been hacked, so have been able to change my password but still cannot log in.
How do I contact Amazon when I have no access to my account?
Is there an email address or a phone number or even a postal address I can use? There doesn't appear to be any way for me to get in touch with them!

Are you certain the emails are from Amazon? Did you click on any links in the emails, or did you go to Amazon to log in yourself.1

Definitely genuine. I cannot log in to Amazon on their website or with their app, as it wants me to enter transaction details first0

I'm back in!
They wanted me to send a credit card statement, to show I was the holder of the card, that was apparently trying to be used to pay for goods. Instead, I wrote out the details of the problem, saved it as a PDF and uploaded that.
They have now responded:
"We have restored your access to this account and processed any pending orders. Thank you for your patience and we are sorry if any inconvenience was caused"2 -

No pending orders. All looks fine and untampered with. I always remove my credit card details from Amazon, due to a past experience of funds being taken. Perhaps someone had hacked in and was trying to add a card and purchase goods? I guess I'll never know what actually happened0
