Is it normal for ESA to ask when phoning for change of address.
Partners name
Partners dob
Martial status
Childrens names
Childrens DOB

They could just be an ID double check, and could also all be relevant to your claim, especially the HB.Whilst changing address is not an issue for ESA itself, if you are claiming HB and moving to a different council area then that will mean that you have to claim UC instead of HB for help with the rent, which will them also migrate any IR ESA into UC too.0

Many years ago you would have been sent a new claim form to complete when you changed address. I assume that instead of doing this, the call centre agent asks for the information instead. The questions you were asked sound like the basic questions that would have been on the form that used to be sent out.

So let’s flip the question, do you want someone to be able to change your address or bank details with no id check?
Partners and children’s detail may seem excessive but there to protect you.Equally you should have asked if this updates their details, cause if it does then you’ve saved yourself another phone call.Proud to have dealt with our debtsStarting debt 2005 £65.7K.

Because I am on contribution based ESA by making a change of address change still in the same county mean my ESA will end and I will be asked to claim UC?0

Is there no means tested benefit in payment? Possibly the call centre agent unnecessarily filled in a form or perhaps it was some sort of ID check.Your type of ESA claim will end at some stage but you won't be asked to migrate to UC if there are no means tested legacy benefits in payment. If you are on the old conts based ESA then at some point it will convert to new style ESA. The amount you receive won't change but it removes the ability to claim income related ESA if this was ever needed (new style ESA doesn't have a means tested equivalent).0

So because I have had this change off address moved within the same county. Will this trigger to move me over to UC? Sorry I'm having difficulty understanding what your saying. I am panicking because of my mental health.0 -
