Thomas Cook (Companies) Liquidation Payments

Hello.

I had a Thomas Cook Airlines flight booked a few days before they went into administration, I made a claim via the advised route (online portal) and hope to receive a payment by 02 October 2024. I never received any E261 compensation, which would have been c.£700.

It would be great to post here the outcome of your claims.

Good luck!

You wont be getting any, is about the long and the short of it.

As for the flight, why did you not just deal via your bank as soon as they went under, seems odd to have waited nearly 5 years for a payout. Also if the flight was before they went under, why didnt you take it? I flew on TC 2 days before they went under, landing on the Saturday morning, they were operating normally right up until the end of the Sunday.

Are you claiming for a refund for a flight that you'd paid for but didn't happen because the airline collapsed?  And also separately hoping for compensation because it was effectively 'cancelled'?

Sorry, I mean the flight was a few days later after the collapse of Thomas Cook.

I was dealing with AMEX over the refund, but it’s been difficult as they cannot locate the card.

My main claim if for the flight cancellation compensation, as the flight was only £113 return.

Well, both really - not expecting it, but let’s see what happens in the coming weeks.

Flight cancellation compensation is governed by EC261/2014. The regulation makes the airline responsible for flight cancellation compensation. If the airline doesn't exist, there's no one left to pay the compensation.
