Advice on travel insurance needed please!

Options
Hi,

I'm travelling to Turkey for the first time soon. I usually use Trailfinders travel insurance, which is fine. Just wondering out of interest what other companies people would recommend?

Thanks!

This is a bit like all insurance. Most people will never have to claim and will judge it on price. Those who do need to claim will find their experience varies, even with the same company.

I had a terrible experience with Direct line and would never go back. My parents had a very good experience with Staysure, so I've been using them. They seem to specialise in existing medical conditions and we both have issues to declare.

Your experience may not match ours however...

Like @Nebulous2 said, it depends on your circumstances.

If you're a frequent traveller then annual insurance may be best. You may have insurance with a packaged bank account. If you have health conditions then I'd echo Staysure.

There's a comparison tool on this site which is useful.

We have insurance via two of our financial services products so dont tend to buy standalone.

Many people buy on price not quality and then complain afterwards when XYZ isn't covered etc. There is a place for cheap and cheerful insurance as long as you understand the limitations of the policy. Even full fat policies dont cover everything that can possibly go wrong in life but they tend to be broader/better limits etc.

It can also be about getting the appropriate insurance for your needs. If you are the type to be taking Hermes handbags and Phase One cameras on holiday with you then your better off ensuring your Home insurance's PP cover is world wide for an appropriate duration than try to find a travel policy that covers £5,000+ items.
  • Thanks so much everyone! This has been really helpful.
