Washing machine help please

My son came over and sorted it out, the blockage was stopping the 'turny bit' turning. He detached the tube and removed the coins, badge, shirt collar stiffeners and lump of grey gunge! The washing machine didn't sound right afterward but that was due to the keys he left on it.2
