I was about to say that if even Dacia ( and i own a Sandero ) make an EV they must be the future if only because the gov/manufacturer want it to be.

    You want Magic Carpet ride.
There is only one that gets constant reviews on how great the ride is

    https://www.autotrader.co.uk/car-details/202408303478808?sort=relevance&advertising-location=at_cars&make=Citroen&model=e-C4&page=1&postcode=ls212ay&year-to=2024&fromsra

I drive a E-Niro... Great car, range is fantastic. Best 322 & worst 290 over the last year for me.

    I just paid a deposit on a 2022 e-C4 shine.

Quite high miles, 28K but  give it another 2 years with my mileage and it will be below average.

The head-up display is great- it it focussed at the end of the bonnet, so no blurry dash through my glasses.

I want to go back to The Olden Days, when every single thing that I can think of was better.....

(except air quality and Medical Science ;))
  • Just run in then! Welcome to the club… 😄

Why? I think there will be a huge market demand for a cheap and cheerful EV. 140 miles on the base model seems fine.

A £15k Dacia EV will make a great 2nd car for most households.

I'd be tempted if I could justify a 2nd car.

There's the Leapmotor T03 on the market soon as well.
Price will start at less than £16,000 and it has a larger battery and more powerful motor than the Spring.

It's being built in the old Fiat 500 factory in Poland as it's a partnership deal between Leapmotor International and Stellantis but RHD models will come direct from China.

  • I did read the americans are refusing to buy ev's - and they are piling up in fields as they made too many. You can import a massive US truck to the uk for cheap - warranty void !! I know 2 friends with problem ev kia's. They spend more time in the garage than the driveway.
I will await better models before being forced to make a switch..........

America has much poorer infrastructure, larger distances and their 110v domestic energy supply means it can take 6 times longer to charger than a UK 230v supply:

So I think we need to be looking at making comparisons with Europe which we're culturally and technologically more similar to than America, where the common language makes it seem like we have more in common culturally than we really do.

It's only 120V if you use a "granny lead".  Almost all homes in the US actually have a 240V supply.  It's split in two to make 2 times 120V, but bigger appliances can be fed the full 240V.
Some homes have 208V instead, as two phases of a 3-phase supply.
    If it sticks, force it.
If it breaks, well it wasn't working right anyway.
