RBS/Natwest redistribute credit limits

Options
Just wondering if anyone had any recent experience of redistributing credit limits with RBS/Natwest.

I've done it in the past but sure I saw a thread here that they where now being awkward about it.

I've done it before where they have lowered one credit limit and increased the other to keep the total credit limit the same but now cant see any info on their websites.

Anyone had recent experience of trying this with them?

I don't think banks advertise that they can redistribute credit limits.  Suppose your had three credit cards with 30k, 20k and 10k limits.  I don't see why you couldn't close two credit cards and leave one credit card with a 60k limit.  It's not like the bank would be taking on any more risk

I have previously called Natwest and they only redistribute credit limit if you have heavy savings balance with Naterst or any other banks. I cannot remember how much it was but I think 30k.

  • I was able to do this a few years ago now, I think with MBNA, last time I tried, just a couple of months ago, with Virgin, they said no.

While it sounds easy. The internal processess aren't always in place to facilitate such requests. Not least that different aspects would be handled by different teams.
  • I've done it with Barclaycard. Closed one and had that limit added to my remaining one
I consider myself to be a male feminist. Is that allowed?

Natwest used to allow this. I have done that previously but on a recent request they refused. They require good amount of savings before they will merge credit limits.

Lloyds Group cards do allow it as far as I am aware.

Virgin is no longer with MBNA. I did try to merge limit with Virgin previously and I was not told they don't do it.

    I believe Barclaycard allows it.

I did in very recent years though was asked via rbs rather than make such request myself and was succesful across 3 CC's 2 of which I kept including using Limit from what were to become Closed card.
Such positive times have passed me, I daren't ask again.
