On some vacuum cleaners, there is the option to adjust the amount of suction, to make it easier to push across certain surfaces. I’ve definitely seen it on Miele vacuum cleaners but worth checking if it’s an option on this one.Northern Ireland club member No 382 :j2

It could be useful if the O.P. advised make and model of the vacuum.I have a mains Shark vacuum (liftaway), I am 10 years younger than their Mum and still, I consider myself still fairly strong.However, on full suction, I find it virtually impossible to use on carpets. As in a post above, there is a suction control on the handle which I have to slide open each time.0
