Ok I'm reading a post and not sure how to deal or advise them, any suggestions.
"I received my migration "invitation" to apply for UC, with a deadline of 17 October. I claim Income Related ESA and child tax credit. I completed the form but when entering my ID I realised that my passport was out of date. BEWARE: You can't go back a page and enter a different form of ID. So I had to submit the form with only one form of ID. They put an entry in my "UC Journal" saying I HAD to attend an appointment to give them my ID. I told them I have difficulty in walking (the nearest car park is a long way away when you struggle to walk) but they STILL INSISTED I attend in person, or my benefits would stop. It's also a 50 mile round trip. I asked if I could resubmit the correct ID, but apparently the system won't allow them to do that. Make sure you are extra careful when completing the form. I am, but got caught out being confident my passport was up to date. What a ridiculous system where you can't amend your info."

You can amend the info but not straight away like going backwards, when you complete everything then you can change answers before submitting them.
I thought proof had to be in person

An expired passport can still be used as long it has only expired withinn the last 12 months. But if you are going to a face to face appointment, as long as you 1 primary and 2 secondary pieces of evidence, they won't.

You could phone UC on 0800 328 5644 to ask if the Job Centre can hold a biographical ID appointment by telephone call due to your circumstances. Ask the helpline to send the request to Job Centre. The comments I post are personal opinion. Always refer to official information sources before relying on internet forums. If you have a problem with any organisation, enter into their official complaints process at the earliest opportunity, as sometimes complaints have to be started within a certain time frame.2

Some people are able to prove ID online I think through government gateway passport and driving licence check. I'm guessing the person doing it didn't realise until they submitted and received a message on the journal. I think they maybe on here but unsure.HillStreetBlues said:You can amend the info but not straight away like going backwards, when you complete everything then you can change answers before submitting them.

Useful information if it works in the timescale, would they give a reference to you incase it went wrong internally?huckster said:You could phone UC on 0800 328 5644 to ask if the Job Centre can hold a biographical ID appointment by telephone call due to your circumstances. They would put notes on the benefit request made for biographical ID phone call appointment. The comments I post are personal opinion.
