Travel insurance for Europe and renovations to my property

Hi All after 4 years my annual travel insurance company has just informed me no I was never insured in France to carry out DIY work on my family home I have inherited.
It needs a lot of work!
I am struggling to wade through insurance providers to find one that does.
Words like DIY and building seems to lead you down the path of creating your own travel plans. not what I am after.
please can someone help directing me.
Thanks in anticipation

Travel insurance is generally for leisure trips ie. holiday. If you plan to do manual jobs, or even if you're travelling for the purpose of playing competitive sports abroad (me), you're generally not covered. Best thing to do is talk to an insurance broker

No travel insurance is likely to cover building work on your house. Check what the GHIC covers, although I'm not sure that would cover it either. As it's a family home do you have French family, or even EU citizenship, then surely you'd be covered for stuff like injuries/hospital treatment like any local doing the same sort of work on their own house. Or are you after cover for liability etc - your home insurance might cover that though not sure how home insurance works in France. Prob best speaking to your French family (if applicable) about that sort of thing0

You will generally be covered for "Manual Work" other than for the medical emergency section. GHIC does apply for accidents that you have whilst in country irrespective if you are doing manual work or other activities.
If you google for Manual Work rather than DIY you will find providers who state they can cover this risk.0
