"We will also require
bank statements even if you were not working at the time of the accident or
have not suffered from a loss of earnings. We have noticed a
recent trend of defendants requesting bank statements at disclosure, as such it
is sensible for us to obtain bank statements now and address any queries that
may arise.
"
Before I reply; is this common? Let's Be Careful Out There

Seems self explanatory. No shortage of attempted fraud with regards to personal injury claims.0

I don't know how common it is but I would do what your solicitor suggests. You solicitor is working in your best interests.

How is it self explanatory, when it doesn't explain why it's (might) needed by the defence?Hoenir said:Seems self explanatory. No shortage of attempted fraud with regards to personal injury claims.

It explains that they need them in readiness for any queries that may arise.HillStreetBlues said:

Seems to be going round in circles, the question is why would any queries arise regarding my banking pre-accident.Penguin_ said:

Guessing that some people may try to claim more than they should, in terms of maybe loss of earnings etc?HillStreetBlues said:

Frauds tend to follow similar patterns. People that investigate such matters become wise to the ruses. People are surprisingly predictable. The less co-operative and more defensive people become the more suspicions are aroused. A genuine claimant simply responds openly and transparently.HillStreetBlues said:

That would have been my thoughts, but it even states even if you haven't suffered loss of earnings (which I haven't).born_again said:

Personally I don't like the trend of asking for a lot of personal information (which could be hacked or stolen) when it may not be required.
So I would be asking if it's mandatory at this time.
I don't think it's wrong or pedantic to be concerned and not to want to put more personal information than necessary.
If it became problematic, I'd provide it.
That's not to be difficult but to protect my information.0 -
Cash for crash... your in financial distress and in desperate needs for funds. You ask your mate if they want £2k? You agree they'll ride in your car, you'll cause an accident thats likely to be resolved non-fault (slam on your breaks for no reason etc) and go 50/50 on their compensation.HillStreetBlues said:
